Hi there, I am new to this site and am looking to see if anyone knows of the Dashey Family who lived In Ladywood. My grandmother was Sarah Dashey who married Harry Greaves and I know she had a brother George King Dashey. Anyone out there who knows anything please?

Re: The Dashey Family

Shera. thanks so much, the harry greaves 1926 is my late father and I am trying to find as much info as I can about his father Harry Greaves. He died in 1948 but have no more info and no family to ask.:)

Re: The Dashey Family

to be certain about the family of harry greaves i think you might have to send for the marr cert. details apr-jun 1920 birmingham 6d 573

the 1901 for sarah dashey is as follows

living holly grove icknield port rd bham

frederick dashey 31 b, shalford london
martha 28 b. london
frederick 8
jack 6
sarah 4
george 1
all born london

Re: The Dashey Family

I have the marriage cert, it arrived today so will research that more. Where did you find the birth records? Are you on Ancestry? I have joined another family history site but think ancestry is better now!

Re: The Dashey Family

yes i am on ancestry and think its the best. what is harry greaves fathers name and how old is harry on cert??

Re: The Dashey Family

Harry is 26 and his father is Thomas. I have found some info on them but wanted more up to date info on harry after 1935 but don't think I will have much luck.

I have traced the Dasheys back to 1901 but they seem to disappear before then. I know they moved from London to Birmingham and Frederick the father was blind, that I have found out from doing research which is interesting as i work with blind people now! I have to go now but please keep in touch if you find anything out about the Dasheys before 1901.

Thanks again

Sue;)

Re: The Dashey Family

Hi, I know this is an older thread but if you are still about...

George King Dashey b.1900 and Rosina Annie Dashey nee Crump b.1907 are my grandparents; they had five children, Dennis, Mary (Peggy), Philip, Paul and Brian. Brian was my father, he died in 2008, Dennis died in 2005 but the other children are still alive.

I've gone as far back as John Dashey b.1831 who married Mary Collins b.1833 (Frederick Dashey's parents) but cannot seem to get any further back than that. All Dashey's I have looked into seem to go back to Ireland.

The eldest Dashey I've found was a Daniel Dashey b.1801 who married Mary Crowley b.1793; they had three children, Daniel Jr, Margaret and Catherine (there might be a fourth, Mary-Jane). Daniel Jr married Jane Geneviere-Parent and had several children in Quebec. But Daniel Dashey Sr and Mary Crowley were both born in Ireland. However, I can't find any links between the Irish Dashey's and the John Dashey who married Mary Collins.
