Danks, Annie

carolina

master brummie
Can anyone help regarding Annie Danks Born 1881 Netherton. I can find her on the 1881 census aged 9 months father James born 1850 and mother Ann Born 1853 Dudley and living Spout Lane, Walsall. On the 1901 census she is living with Elijah Aston and Ann Aston in Netherton but they were her grandparents. I cannot find anything for her in the 1891 cenus at all. I wondered why she was living with her grandparents and where she was in 1891. Had her parents died? In 1903 she married my grandfather Arthur Taylor in Netherton. Any help would be great. There is another Annie Danks born Netherton but she has a slightly different date and lived in West Brom .Many thanks

Re: Annie Danks

Dear Carolina,
my Mother was a Danks, and more than likely a connection. I will start sifting through the information that I have gathered on the Danks family, it could take a while, but just to let you know I am on the case.
With kind regards
Sherrill

Re: Annie Danks

Ladylinda, yes I think it is. Its interesting that there is a Lucy there, as I can remember when I was young going with my dad to see an Aunt Lucy in Dudley and I have never been able to find a Lucy in my family tree. I wonder if this was the lady or related to her as this would make her my dad's aunty - its a possibility. Many thanks.

Re: Annie Danks

Ladylinda, I have just had another look at the info and I wonder why Annie Danks is shown as daughter when the head of the family is Willetts? There seems quite a mix up here with children both Willetts and Annie on the list. Is this from a census? Thanks

Re: Annie Danks

Hi Carolynn

I notice you say that Annie was living with her grandparent's in 1901. Elijah and ANN Aston?
In the 1901 living at 2 Castle St, Dudley is
Elijah Aston B1828 Netherton
LUCY Aston B1829 Gloucester (wife)
Annie WILLETTS B1853 Netherton - daughter - WIDOW
Ada Danks B1877 Netherton - granddaughter
Annie Danks B1881 Walsall - granddaughter
Lucy Danks B1884 Walsall - granddaughter
James Danks B1888 Netherton - grandson
Fred WILLETTS B1893 Netherton - grandson

I believe that James DANKS the husband of Annie Aston died c1889 and Annie Danks as a Widow married James WILLETTS in 1890 Dudley and James died c1896/99 which is why she is a widow again in 1901. The 1891 census details Ladylinda gave you could possibly be James WILLETTS children from another marriage, perhaps he also was widowed.

Hope this helps:)

Suzanne

Re: Annie Danks

Thanks Suzanne, all these mixed families it sounds like today's families, but your info does help to make things clearer. I couldnt find anything for the 1891 cenus for Annie Danks (grandmother) not gt grandmother so I was grateful for Ladylinda's info, if that is the 1891 census. Annie's (g.m.) father was shown as deceased on her marriage certificate, it also showed that his profession was a pianist. I cant wait to hear from Sherill. Again, thanks Carol

Re: Annie Danks

Dear Carolina,
I am so sorry I haven't got back to you before now, I can see by the messages you got answers to your questions. How ever getting back to the Danks names, I am also certain that there will be a connection somewhere, but as of yet I haven't tied the links in. My Mother's name was Alice Danks, her parents were Arther Danks b27 Jun 1884, he died 19 Oct 1943 and Emma Hill b1865. Arthur's parent's were William Danks abt1862 and he died 26 Mar 1903 35 Trent Street, B'ham. William was married to Emma Hill b1865. I haven't been able to get back any further as I do not know who William's are and there are so many Danks. However, when I can find more time, hopefully will try and get back further. On my husband's side I have got back to 1646, but I was quite fortunate it is an unusual name.
Hope to catch up sometime. Once again sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
With kind regards
Sherrill

Re: Annie Danks

My gg grandfather Richard Danks in 1851 census lived Baptist End, Dudley. Living in the property were 2 parents, 6 children and 3 servants. I dont know if the servants were just lodging there or were servants in the house, and as Richard was shown as a coalman, I would doubt it. But to have 11 people living in one house, it must have been quite a size. Would anyone on the Forum have some idea on this? Many thanks Carol.

Re: Annie Danks

Hi Sherill long time no speak. On the bona-vacantia there is a Grace Danks died 2006 - Selly Oak, Birmingham. Not a relative of mine, is it one of yours??
