Cumberland Terrace Hockley

My grandfather and grandmother lived, according to family history, in the Jewelry quarter at, or around, Carver Street and have 13 Cumberland Terrace as an address.

I have been unable to find this address on the 6 inch OS map of 1888-1913 or anywhere else. I don't know whether it was a small street off Carver Street or whether it was somewhere else.

If anybody can solve this mystery I would be very grateful for any advice.

The problem is that many terraces had names but not many were printed on maps. It is usually a case of trying to track via census.
I have found one named on St Luke's Road but that is Highgate and a fair way from the jewelry quarter so would doubt that was it. I will keep looking. In ht emean time what was your grandparents surname?

I assume they are William and martha Mason. As the terrace is listed between 72 and 73 Carver Street I would assume it is set of houses at right angles to the street - it may even be a name given to one of the courts. A later map shows a narrow passageway leading to buildings at the back - this could be it.
This is, I have to say, my best guess and may not be right. Kelly's lists houses on bothe sides of the terrace which is why I think it is roughly half way between Warstone Lane and Tenby Street.
