I am trying to find details of THOMAS and ANN Cresswell, who were the parents of my g-g-grandfather, JOHN.
JOHN was baptised in St. Martins on 5 Apr 1790 - the baptism record shows the parents as Thomas Cresswell and Ann - but I have not been able to find the maiden name of Ann.
John was a Brass Founder, and at somtime moved to Clerkenwell in London, but I have no records of his earlier life. The only possible parents I have found so far were Thomas + Ann Phillips, of Kingsbury, but this turned out to be a false lead.
Are there any Cresswells in the area who rcognise this family, or anyone else who could suggest suitable leads, please.

My late sister in law Janet was a Cresswell but I am still in touch with her sister Linda. I am not sure if she is tracing her family but will e.mail her later. Janet lived in Aston until she married then moved to Great Barr. TTFN. Jean.

Thank you Jean, I will be most interested to learn if Linda has any links. Best wishes, Charles.

Hi Linda - I quite forgot to add Thomas C. and Ann Taylor, about whom I have an extensive file - pity, because it looked so promising - they were Farmers in Newlands, Worcs. and two of their sons were Solicitors - one of whom (Charles) emigrated to Australia. I had an email from Stuart Cresswell (in 2006) who is a direct descendant of Thomas and Ann Taylor and who can trace the family back to the late 1600's in Herefordshire, and says that there is definitely no John of that birthdate in his Tree.

I will follow up Thomas and Ann Bate though, and thank you for your interest and help.

Regards, Charles.

I will look up the antecedents of Maurice and Harry on the IGI - thank you.

Regards, Charles.
