A question: what is the geographical difference between Cotteridge and Stirchley ? They seem to be names that are interchangeable. Viv.

On both of these items it's named as The Cotteridge". Maybe it was a reference to an earlier house called The Cotteridge House ? See attached map. Viv.

A few snippets of history about Cotteridge and the Cotteridge House :
"Cotteridge House was built c1680 in Motts Field, a name referring to a moat, a feature of many 13th-century manor houses and substantial farms. The house is now demolished and the site between Middleton Hall Road and Watford Road built over".
And according to a Birmingham Mail article
" ...........1841 Census it is not clear who was living in Cotteridge. Cotteridge then consisted of two houses and five cottages!".

Wonderful to see that Dereck and Pauline are still in the shop.
I remember buying fruit from them when I was a lad in the mid 196o's, I lived with my aunt and uncle in a shop opposite.
