Cornwell - birth/baptism - 1820/1822

Would be very grateful for some information about the birth of an Ann Cornwell. Married in 1839 in Dudley her marriage certificate shows her as resident in Handsworth, daughter of Job Cornwell. The IGI shows an Ann Cornwell baptised at St. Martin's 1822, mother Obedience. Could this be one and the same ? Would someone be able to check the record for me ? I wondered if the record has been wrongly transcribed and that perhaps Job was a nickname for Obedience (which was both a male and female name). Any suggestions most welcome.

there were two children baptised on 26th dec 1822.

thomas and ann cornwell, both born to obedience, listed as a single woman, so i dont think it will be any good to you. the address given was "new inkleys".

I too have tried to find out about this family to no avail, I had other Cornwell relatives living in the area (very close).

If anyone knows anything please get in touch?

Regards

Hi Russ,

Since the original posting I have discovered that my relation, Ann Cornwell was probably born in 1818 in Henley in Arden. Her father Job born circa 1781 in Warwickshire lived according to the 1841 and 1851 censuses in Birmingham, in one with a Benjamin Cornwell. He died after 1851. Ann had a sister named Mary born 1808 or thereabouts and probably several other siblings. It's difficult to be sure but the family search site shows several children born to a Job and Elizabeth whose date otherwise fit. Does any of this match anything in your tree ?

Hi Aimac

Yes, it looks as though your lot are not the same as this New Inkleys lot, not sure about my connection? I definitely had Cornwells living in New Inkleys, but don't know who these people are? Quite frustrating!

I see your family are from BEAUDESERT a tiny place near Henley? With Job coming from a little distance away in Luddington (Stratford Upon Avon)? I see it looks as though Ann had a sister called Sarah c1808 in BEAUDESERT and that Job is later living with her? Probably a James, William & Thomas too? Looks as though Mary Married a Green and then a Daffon?

Are you connected to the Wootton Wawen Cornwells - I bet you are?

It seems as though, like my own lot, your lot can't decide if they are Cornwall or Cornwell, or even a few other things?

If you like keep my email on record, not sure about the rules on these boards because I'm not an active member, but you can get me at ukgo.com, just put my username in front followed bt the at symbol :-)
