Can anyone tell me how to search for children of a relative post the 1911 census.
My relative is George Edward Cooper married to a Gertrude Frances Cooper nee Cooper. They were married 25 December 1909 and as at 1911 census had no children and lived at 14 Barn Street where I believe the family business was located - Pawnbrokers. George also had a sister - Kate, who was living with her mother Alice Frances Cooper nee Pomfret at 365 Cherrywood Road as at the 1911 census. I know someone, tagged Ellie (from Australia) and I do n ot think I know Ellie, has been looking for these people and it seems we have the same dream - to find a living relative in England. If George Edward or Kate fizzle, then it is right back to John Cooper b 1813 or another sibling of my direct relative Samuel Cooper 1815 - 1889. Any directiosn received would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much Linda.
This is amazing information.
Creates as many questions as it answers though.
Am I able to search these electoral rolls online?
Kind regards,
Tony Cooper

Hello Astonian,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query.
To my knowledge, the Coopers you speak of are no relation to me. Maybe they have some info. which would indicate otherwise. Worth a search though. This may be politically incorrect but do they have an email address. Or maybe you can show them this site and they can choose whether or not to respond.
Kind Regards,
Tony Cooper

Hi Tony,
I access the Birmingham Electoral Rolls online at the site below, you can pay to buy credits to view more details of the initial searches. Not sure if Linda uses the same one, so I would wait for her reply too, as she seems to get more results than I do, but that could be that she is more aware of the site workings.

Thanks again Linda. Amazing stuff. But you are still creating more questions than you are solving (I'm smiling)!! Are you able to see when George Edward Cooper and/or Gertrude Frances Cooper (husband and wife) may have died. If not no matter.
Thank you so very much>
Kind Regards,
Tony Cooper.

Hello Sue,
Not sure if I,m repeating myself but thank you so much for help and guidance. Very difficult to track things down from Australia without breaking the bank account.
Kind Regards,
Tony Cooper.

Just to add to any possible confusion, provide more questions, give no answers and keep the smile on your face..........
There doesn't seem to be a positive death for Gertrude at all!
Do you think they may have divorced or she left him or something?
Looking at the 1911 census, she was calling herself Gertie.
In 1945 there is a Gertie Cooper at 54 Princess Rd,Balsall Heath.By 1947 she had married Harry Kay. Whether or not this is your Gertrude Cooper is very hard to say without obtaining the marriage cert.
Harry Kay married Gertrude Cooper
Date of Registration:Jul-Aug-Sep 1946

ps Alice Frances Cooper died 19 August 1935.
Probate was granted to George Edward Cooper, Commercial Traveller, on 30 September 1935.
Effects of £723 13s 6d were left.
So we know George was still alive then!

The following are just 2 possible George deaths.

Name:George E Cooper
Birth Date abt 1877
Date of Registration:Oct-Nov-Dec 1962
Age at Death:85

This George's last address was 12 Charfield Close,Bournville. He died 26 November 1962 at Selly Oak Hospital.Probate was granted to William Heeks, electrician.Effects of £318 4s
It would appear he was living with a William and Dorothy Eyre (nee Such).
(I can't see a tangible link to your George at the moment)

Hey Linda,
You keep creating more questions than you give me answers!!! Keep up the good work.
Fantastic site this.
I have no idea how I could have got this far without your help.
Thank you so much
Tony Cooper.

Tony, I know how difficult it is researching from Oz, my interest in genealogy was sparked by my dads cousin, who was born in Oz, but whose parents and parents-in-law were Brummies, she is like a sponge for any info I can send her, so far between us, we have traced her and my dads grandads marriage in USA and another branch of the family, their uncle, who also emigrated to Oz, under something of a black cloud - Mary has met up with her 2nd cousins now, so we have a bit more on the tree, although still haven't found out what caused the major rift within the family! Managed to research Marys dads war history for her, he won medals in WW1, she has one of them, and with the help of the Forum we managed to identify it and his war history.
So yes, it is a great site to be involved with and we are happy to help!
Sue
