I wonder if anyone could help with a look up of the following OPRs :

John Clark(e) married Sarah Smith at St Philips on 19 February 1785, these may be their children who were baptised there but I need to try to make the link.

Thomas Clarke - 01 Oct 1788. (IGI entries with and without E)
George. Clarke - 15 Jul 1790
Joseph Clark– Born 28 Mar 1795, baptised 7 Aug 1804 – possibly died 1804

hi colin, i have just a few records for st. phillips - marriages 1715-1800 so i checked the marriage and i cant see it on the records. maybe its been missed but i have found the page for marriages 1785 and there are no marriages on 19th feb at all. there is one on the 6th, 2 on the 7th, 1 on the 14th, 22nd and 24th feb 1785. none of these is for the couple you are looking for. i see the marriage on familysearch which states 19th feb 1785 at st. phillips but its not on the transcribed records ive got. it must be so difficult for you with clark and smith!

Hi Shera,
Thanks for trying, the marriage is shown on the old IGI search but not the new.
I know you have some St Martins records, could you possibly check this one for me, it's my other option for the same family.

John Clark & Sarah (Spinlist or Spink married St. Martin Birmingham 6 Nov 1775)?
The new IGI marriage record lists the surname of Sarah, as Spinlist & the old Spink, which I think is more likely, there were several baptisms for that name in Walsall but no Spinlist anywhere.

Many thanks for your help. The fact that John was from St Philips Parish sounds promising I will follow your info through.

I assumed John Clark/e was probably from St Philips, maybe he was married to both, you never know. Earlier children to Sarah Spink baptised St Philips were:

Mary Clark – 26 Jan 1778
Sarah Ann Clark - 24 Nov 1779
Elisabeth Clarke - 09 Jan 1782
John Clark - 15 Oct 1785

Thanks again.

Colin
