Clarke Family of Ladywood

Sandra F

knowlegable brummie
Trying to gain some information about my father's brother and sister - Violet Clarke, born March 1906 and John Thomas Clarke, born April 1908. Last address was Stoke Street, off Broad Street in 1913. They were probably taken into the care of Birmingham Council between 1913 and 1918 and may have ended up in one of the colonies as there are no UK records after 1913. The archives of children's homes admissions are not available because of the 100 years rule.

Sandra,

This is a bit hit & miss, but there is a Violet CLARKE, born 1906 of Nazareth House, Rednal, Birmingham, occupation 'domestic' travelling 23 Sep 1927 Liverpool to Montreal on ss MONTCLARE. She appears to be travelling alone, although there is a George & Emma CLARKE of 72 Ryland Road, Birmingham travelling on the same vessel.

EDIT: The only John Thomas CLARKE is a Ship's Q.M.S. in 1920 to Australia and he would not have been old enough.

Maurice
