ET55, I am Clarendon Street born and bred, sorry to say I have yet to find a view of that part of the street, all I can remember of the house's around that part was very long entries with bigger than average gardens which I think lead on to the Retreat, Britain from Above web site has a very good photo of that area from 1938, I am not sure if I or some else posted the said photo on here somewhere, in fact I have used the photo for my mouse mat,
Thank you for trying anyway. I have seen the Aerial View and I had an idea of where #38 might be - your description helps a lot.
Anyone heard of a Harry Evans from the area, by the way? I can't find him anywhere.

From what time frame? What details do you have?

It may be better to start a new thread under surname interests. It's likely to get more notice and it'll stop this thread from going off topic.

Thank you MWS - I didn't know I could do that. Meantime: Harry Evans was a "regular visitor" to Nellie Walker at number 38 Clarendon Street from around 1915 to 1920. He was named in a divorce petition, that failed through lack of evidence in 1922.

if anyone has any old photos or can replace any lost ones from this thread we would love to see them

thank you

Hi Lyn, I do have a few same as post 31 and one or two more, but better quality, the problem I have is that I am having major problems with my computer system and unable to access them at the moment, I have just purchased an apple mini mac 2 pro and I am having problems with that as well, my own fault, I forgot what my apple password is and cannot get into the system , Apple support are as useful as a snow ball in hell, just waiting for it to be re-set to the factory setting so I can start again, could be a few weeks.

Hi my husbands family the GROGAN’S lived at number 81 would have been the late 1800’s as his Gt Uncle never returned from the WW1 & was killed in action in 1917 before he went he worked at a Bicycle factory in Aston (1911) it would be great to see a picture of No 81

Hi Maria and welcome to the forum.

There are very few images of Clarendon Street, I have posted an aerial view and map showing No. 81 (I don't think the houses were ever renumbered so it should be correct).

I lived in Parliament Street (the next street), the part where No. 81 was located I never realised it existed until a few years ago.

There are a few images (but not the end where 81 was) on:

Wow…. Thanks it just gives me an idea of the social standards the whole family stayed in and around Aston for many years the father of the family Martin worked at the eagle foundry
