You say you cannot recall that big building next to the pub, well, for a couple of years in the early 1960's we lived in Upper Webster Street (4 Back 43) and I can't remember that pub.
Must have driven past it many, many times.
Must be getting old.:ambivalence:
austin i lived in villa st for 11 years and i cant remember half of what was was there...dont think its an age thing its just that when we were younger we just took our surroundings for granted..wished i had taken more notice..
Sylvia.....It was part of the pub, its where they hired the room out for weddings etc......as you look at the pub the middle door was the outdoor,
Morris.....No....it was the nickname of the Royal Oak which was on the other side of the road but on the corner of Park Lane and Clarendon Street......
Thanks John, I still can't bring it to mind, as I said mom & dad used the Clarendon every weekend and when I was an adult went in there quite a few times. Funny how the memory works.
wow thank you so much that pic has brought so many memories back, my mom (betty) worked there and i can remember waiting for my dad to come out and give me and my friend (Denise Harwood) orange an crisps
