Christmas 2012 at the Jewellers Arms

Great pics, thanks, Sue and ragga - a nice record of a very enjoyable event. And many thanks to Lyn for organising. (How very, very lucky we are to have someone like Lyn who is willing to go to all the trouble of getting so many of us together). And not to forget Postie for the first swig and all the generous people who donated the wonderful raflle prizes.

Talking of which - to she who baked it, from he who is working his way through it, slice by delicious slice, the chocolate cake is simply FAB-U-LOUS, dahling.

So glad I just turned up to the meet , even thought I was nearly two hours late !
I had only just come out of hospital the day before so didn’t add my name to the list of those attending preferring to see how I felt on the day. So glad that I attended.
Good to see old friends Key Hill Brian and Wendy. Also Shera again ( we met at Key Hill some years back ) Sorry that Pollypops was not at the meet.
Had a good chat with the Bishops Mate and many more.
It was an interesting afternoon, that turned into an interesting evening.

Lyn has such cold hands I was rubbing them warm for her.

About 7pm , I was chatting to a group of people who I had not met before ( not with the history forum ) I was telling them of the fantastic groups I belong to. They came me £10.00 for a group of my choice. I would like to hand this over to Birmingham History Forum’s Charity.
Who do I make the cheque payable to ?

Also came home with a laminated map of Birmingham that someone left behind.
Who ever it belongs to I will return at the next meet.

Thank you all for a lovely time

Thanks to all involved in organizing the Meet Up. Had a real good time. This was my first but hopefully not my last!! Meet a few of the members and had a bit of a chat with Ragga. Enjoyed the food and drink but most of all the kindred spirit that was shown by all members towards everyone. A big thank you once again to Lyn.

Bojalu It was lovely to see you again.I am amazed you made it after only just leaving hospital. The cheque can be forwarded to Jim (Postie) for our funds. You are welcome to keep the map they were donated to members by the late Peter Walker, who did them for us there are in fact two maps. After reading these posts, what a lovely bunch you are..x

Well, Another great meet, it was nice to see so many forum members both old and new who turned up on the day, special thanks go to Lyn for organising everything, what would we do without her.
I remember our first meet at the Jewellers in 2006 (I think) when about eight of us turned up, we only needed the one bench and two tables, now there's enough to take over the place.

Bojalu, What a nice gesture, for details how donations can be made to the forum visit DONATE .

Thank you everyone for making me feel welcome, and a special thank you to Lyn for her kindness.

Barrie.

No we save that for you Frothy but even you would have found it difficult as there are no steps - bet you would have managed to roll down the slope between the two rooms though.
Pity you couldn't get there, it was a great turn out, you would have enjoyed it - hope the stock-take went well!!!!
We did have a drink for you though lol, dad said the Worthys was lovely:friendly_wink:

We were trying to not make you feel so bad at what you had missed.

It's Saturday, it's 12 0'clock
I'm off down "The Meet"
I think i'd better hurry
or I may not get a seat

But being with a "lady fair"
Carolina, a true Brummie wench
when we get to The Jewelers Arms
we find ourselves a bench

There's Bisopsmate and Brian C
David Fowler and Chocks 2
Key Hill Brian and Pete R
and look, there's Sister Sue

Shera, Ragga, Irene and Pam
Their cousin Brian too
thanks to all Jim's badges
I now now who is who

A special mention for the girl
who made it a success
so take a bow our guiding light
Lyn, aka Astoness

apologies if you didn't get a mention, didn't want to bore you folk too much.
