Very unusual view Mike. That awning over the ABC advert - was it to stop debris dropping onto pedestrians during Christ Church demolition ? Or something else ?
The view looks quite forlorn in that photo. Suppose it might be because we know what replaced it (Galloways Corner) - well, at least for a while until the arrival of the 1950s/60s bulldozers, which changed it yet again. Have I got this right? After Christ Church was demolished, Galloway's Corner replaced the low-level premises in view. Then, in the 1950s/60s, the buildings were removed as far back as Christ Church Passage, i.e., where the two men were walking on the far right. Seems to me that Galloways Corner can't have existed for very long.
