Childhood Memories

Hello everyone,
I make Youtube videos about Birmingham (walking tours, past & present, introduction to cultural places in and around the city).
I am currently in the process of gathering oral memories of Bham for future generation of Brummies and I would like to know if you were interested in participating in this project.
Basically I would like you to recall your childhood memories based on different topics like school, games you used to play, venues you used to go to, how your neighbourhood was like, etc. And I will add your recordings to my walking tours around Birmingham.
If this is something you are interested in, please email me here: [email protected]
Thanks a lot.
Joseline.

Can't say I've ever tried it, but can imagine it's good as I loved to drink Ovaltine (and Horlicks - remember you could get Horlicks tablets, lots of healthy malt). But how thoughtful of Father Christmas to give Ovaltine !

buying old army field telephones from brewers aston 10 shillings each and me and mates going over the cut and slacks as we called it and stetting them up and talking to one another on them.

Not really a childhood memory exactly Pete talking about phones serving my apprenticeship in the 60's at the new Post & Mail we were on the 11th floor and a firm of solicitors were about to move in. There switchboard had already been positioned , I was messing about with the handle on the side winding it up I had the earphones up to my ear and as I cranked you could hear crackling on it . I offered to the sparks I was working with the earphones who was on a 6' pair of steps sorting the lighting circuits in a junction box in the false ceiling . Anyway I cranked it not being very impressed he said "oh ah " then putting his head back in the ceiling space proceeded to get a full 240v on the end of his nose . I did'nt think it funny at thetime but as the time passes it gets more hilarious every time , if only I'd got a camera as he was getting that belt the position he w as in on the steps haha
