Cheap Turns!

Not B,ham but all of these would have appeared here, look at how low the entrance fee was back then  Shirley Bassey was rather expensive compared to all the rest. Even USA top acts like Roy Orbison and Gene Pitney only rated £1 entrance and booked for a week or more
It is undated but presumably early 1960,s, Shirley Bassey was an extra 20p for the weekend :D

Enough to make you cry .! By chance last week, out of interest as no longer live in Brum, visited the Cadburys shop just outside Tewkesbury. Misshapes , fancy plastic bag - £7 !!!!. Not sure if they even have them in the chocolate shop now as I haven't been for ages. When I worked behind the bar (and not a cheap place) a pint of best bitter -1 shilling and 10 pence . A pound was a good night out

I recall my first visit to Barberellas on my return from the Far East in 1972. Four pints of Brew eleven £1,total robbery. In the locals of Acocks Green it was around 10 pence a pint.

NoddKD.

I went to Batley Variety with my uncle in the 1960s, don't know what the tickets cost. Seem to remember carpet everywhere, even on the walls! Saw Freddy Starr. He wasn't very PC. All the same, he was a skilled comedian with his timing and pretty outrageous act.

There is only one name on there I don't recognise, Martin St James. I looked him up and he was a hypnotist and a surprising amount of info is on the net saying how amazing he was
