Hi, I've been scouring the fascinating threads here, and the wider internet, trying to find information on my Grandad's shop - no luck so far. His name was Charlie Butcher, an unlikely name for a greengrocer, and as far as I can gather the shop was between Six Ways and the Bartons Arms right up until the time the area was cleared to build the underpass towards Perry Barr.
My mother worked in the shop for him and often talks fondly of customers and old times but things are getting a bit vague so I'm trying to find out as much as I can to help bring back more memories.
I hope you can help.
Cheers.
Christopher.

Thanks Shera, already I'm getting further than before. That sounds about right because I was born in 1970 and have no memory of it at all whereas my sister who is just a few years older has some early memories from there.
I didn't realise it was there for quite so long, there must be plenty of people who visited in almost thirty years of trading, hopefully some of them will be in touch.
Thanks again.

Thanks Bren, I'm seeing mom in a few hours so I'll show her those photos (Unfortunately lost)- I think I've heard her mention Smarts and Baines. Seeing as Smarts is number 181, I'd imagine it was pretty nearby, unfortunately I don't think even my family have any photos of grandad's shop. It just goes to show, you should take photos of all the things you take for granted as one day they'll be gone and then it's too late!!
Cheers.
