hi folks i wonder if someone could double check this please...i have found 2 marriages for the same people on the same date but in different places and different ref numbers...bit of a coinsidence for this to be two completely different couples i thought...i have

charles glover to sarah mansfield 16th june 1803 in tutbury which is burton on trent staffs ref 1040887 and

charles glover to sarah mansfield 16th june 1803 in walsall wood staffs re 421606/497331

it looks as though they got married twice on the same day but in different places could be a transcription error but if so which one is correct...very confused lol...any advise would be great

Could it have something to do with the banns? Don't they have to read them out in both parishes if different?

hi MWS..i have absolutely no idea if that is the case but you could well be right...really stumped on this as i have not come across this before...

Lyn , i have seen a similar query on here in the pst few weeks but cannot remember posters name.
They made futher enquiriers and were to ignore the Walsll wood one as there had been some kind of mix up.
Will try to trawl through a few posts in the hope of finding it.Alberta

I think it was. I have images for banns for one couple in each of their 'home' parishes. And on the side of one the wedding date is listed, though I'm not sure if that indicates they were married in that parish or the other, as I don't have the image of the actual marriage.

Lyn, it is the fault of Familysearch.
I saw query on another genealogy forum for marriages in 1760-1770 entered in both places and the answer was to ignore the Walsall Wood as Familysearch admitted it had been entered incorrectly and all marriages were Tutbury.
