heard today that they have started to remove the clock for a restoration job...great news

ell do you know if its just the top thats being removed for repairs and restoration and doing the rest in situ or are they taking the whole clock away..

Interesting that the BBC say research will be carried out into Chamberlain's role in the British Empire, and a new information panel will be installed. It looks like they have already researched and now maybe the time to remove for a while. Just in case...

The whole clock, the tower, the mechanisms, all off to Smith of Derby. It will be restored off site. So the roundabout will not have anything on it until early 2021.
