Census Strays

Carolann

Journeyman Brummie
My 3xGreatgrandfather was born out of County in 1776, according to the 1841 Census so was not born in Birmingham,he married a Irish lady, whether in Birmingham i don`t know,as i can`t find a marriage.
As i don`t know where he was born i can`t carry on with my tree.
I wondered if anyone knew how i could find out where he was born.
Are there any records of census strays.
I would really be grateful for any help.
Carol

if you post his name and any other info you have on him perhaps someone can find him for you. worth trying anyway

Thankyou Shera,,his name was Richard Fowler born abt 1776 married to Ann,according to the 1841 Census he was a Shoemaker.
I found 2 children Martha born abt 1820 and John abt 1830 but cannot find any birth`s in Birmingham for them.

have found one possible christening at st.martins

emma b. 12.5.1822 chr. 29.7.1822 parents richard and ann fowler

bow street engineer

cant find anything else at st.martins. would this one be right ie. occupation?

on the igi there is a christening of a martha fowler parents richard and ann fowler on 21.10.1821 in lambourn berkshire

i wonder if this is your family?

It could be them it might be worth looking in to it.
Richard died in 1845 this is why i am stuck.
What i can never understand is why none of the children
were with Richard and Ann on the 1841 Census i mean John
would only have been age 10 or 11.
On the 1851 Census John was a Boarder with Harriet Fowler age 14
whom i assume was John`s sister,if she was, her mother was about
51 when she had her.
I can`t make sense of it.
Thankyou Shera.

sorry ive found the above ann still in lambourne with her children so back to square one. how do you know john is their son?

in 1841 they were living in the st phillips parish. perhaps you could visit the library and look up the baptisms for the children martha and john fowler and maybe even a marr for richard and ann although this still wouldnt tell you where he was born.

sorry i havent been able to help. i hope someone else has some ideas :023:
