Yes, that would come under Aston Reg. Dist then, and the early days of Civil Registration had quite a few births that weren't registered. Have you checked FamilySearch.org for a possible christening? It was and still is in the County of Warwickshire, so that might be a starting point. Or tell us the full name and you can bet that one of the eager beavers on this site will come up with something!

It's not in Warwickshire any longer, and much like Chelmsley Wood and Smiths Wood, it is now
part of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, and I believe that the records may now be with them.
Certainly worth checking anyway.

I haven't looked at original records for 30 years in the Brum area, have never even heard of Smiths Wood, & Chelmsley Wood was just a destination board on a BCT bus! When you live 1800 miles way, you tend to make extensive use of what is online! As we're talking 1840s, it seems online is the best place to start, if only because it is indexed. But I'm sure Zena will appreciate the additional information. Thanks.
