In 1881 my great grandmother was a `picker at carpet works` in Lower Mitton (which later became part of Stourport). Does anyone know what this job involved?

Jane I believe a picker repaired any faults in the carpet as it came down on the loom probably sewing in a loose thread etc.I used to be a sales rep in the carpet trade and this is the info I was given.
