master brummie
My grandfather was employed as a Carpenter when Cadbury was building Bourneville.

I would like to know if information about the carpentry work at the time.

Hours of work, pay, other benefits, etc.

Thanks
SR

Cadburys had very big Maintenance dept employing Fitters, Turners, internal & external Grinders and could repair any production line machine or air conditioning system, in WW2 this department built Machine Tools for the war effort, a nameplate was fixed to the machines saying built by Bournville Utilitys i don`t think this was known by many citizens of Brum. Len.

Up to about 30 years ago they also sometimes designed and built machines themselves. They even had one clock maintanance man who man whose job it was to maintain the timeclocks and other clocks. it was very useful if your watch needed repairing
