Cantell family

Hi everyone,

Trying to do a bit of detective work for my Uncle.

His father was William James Cantell botn June 4th 1888, died 24th July 1957.

He married Helen O'Grady & they had several childten. She died whilst I believe liiving in B-ham.

He remarried Ethel Winifred Clarke (nee Allcock) in 1945 and they had two children Kenneth William and Janet Diane.

From what I can make out, William james Cantell father was Charles William Cantell, born 1855, birth district Witney. I think he married a Sarah Church from Pangborne. That is as much as I have been able to find out, if anyone can find out more about them and the Cantell family it would be appreciated,.

There is a rumour that another child was born, but neither with Helen or Ehtel. How true this is I do not know.

Would this be them in the 1871 census?

Sarah Church married William Charles Cantell in 1887

Please check it all out though, I may not be right.

Thank you Terry for all your hard work, its very much appreicated, gives me a kick start to search further now on Sarah's side.

I beleive my branch of the Cantell family hails from Witney too, stonemasons in fact. But I don't recognise the names and dates exactly. My grandfather was Charles William Cantell, but born in 1872 not 1855 (he died in Buckingham in 1951). I don't know a William James, though I do have a George James 1858-1948.
