Cannon St Meeting House, Baptist, Birmingham

Notts Floyd

proper brummie kid
Hello

Can anyone help me with births/christenings for the above church? Does anyone have these details on disc, or know where I could look at them. (At some future date, as I don't live in Birmingham).

I am interested in William Floyd born 30/05/1807 christened 16/08/1809, details from the IGI. Is the fathers occupation listed? There were numerous children, the last Charles, 22/12/1820.

Thanks
Notts Floyd

Hi Notts Floyd

I have ancestors who were members of the Canon Street Baptist Church and I found information about their baptisms at the Archives Dept in Birmingham Library. If you email them they may do a look up for you, not sure if the records are on the LDS films but I would think they are, and you could order them from your local LDS centre.

Hi Notts Floyd....I have also looked at the Cannon Street Meeting House records - on microfilm at the Archives, B'ham Central Library....My family of 3 children were all baptised there in 1840 and had their dates of birth listed as 1831, 1833 and 1836....It gave the parents names - and the fathers trade as a Silver plate worker, Harborne, Nr B'ham.

Hope this helps....Florence :)

Hi Notts Floyd

The information that I got from the Archives Dept in Birmingham Library did, as Florence says, give information on names of parents, address and occupation of father. In some cases there was additional information for instance:

14 April 1830 - Ann Parkes, daughter of Maria Parkes, formerly Howell and William Parkes, plater. Born Exeter Row, B'ham. Registered by father of child at Brass Street, B'ham, his residence. Registered 6 Nov. 1840.

11 Oct 1819 - John, son of William and Ann Nicholls, Snow Hill, Tailor.

Amelia Mackain. Restored Jan (?) 30 1833. She was baptised by Mr Pearce Oct 14 1798 and excluded for non attendance Feb 1 1809

As I looked at this information some years ago, I can't remember whether it was on film or the original register.
