Burial ages

clarkie

Exiled Brummie
I am having great difficulty in tracing the death/burial of my Ancestors Thomas & Ann Clarke, (both born 1789
+/- 5 years). They do not appear on census returns but as the 1841 did have some gaps I can only assume that they died before 1851.
I have eliminated most of the church burials so I am guessing that Key Hill might be a possible resting place and there are possibilities but no ages, as is the GRO index in this period.

Do Key Hill & Warstone Lane record ages?

Clarkie

PS: I know this may have been asked before but I have scanned earlier posts to no avail.

Some of the records for Key Hill and Warstone Lane cemeteries include age, most include birth date so age can be worked out. This information is only on the original registers though. This site may help. https://www.jqrg.org/

Many thanks Wendy. I had been into the site but no ages seem to appear, I guess that means I should contact them?

You will need to contact Handsworth Cemetery as they hold the original registers, which I stated above. They do usually make a charge though.

BMSGH have scanned the burial records for Key Hill, Warstone Lane, Handsworth and Witton. Indexes to all these are available on Findmypast. If you want a copy of the burial record you can order it through the BMSGH shop, www.bmsgh-shop.org.uk In some instances photographs of the gravestones are available.

Many thanks for your response. I am a member of FMP but sadly with my common name I find £4 a time on top of my FMP subscription a bit too much. I did contact Handsworth Cemetery on 26 May but no reply to date.

Clarkie,

The information is available in our library in Margaret Street. As a member of the Society (£14.50 per year) you can view the info for free.
