hi ppl
i hope sombody can help me get some info about some of my ancestors
i have been informed that my great grand parents robert and sarah french
ran two pubs in birmingham late 1800's the rose and crown in hingeston st.
and another pub the bunch of grapes, i have found some ref. about the rose
but nothing about the bunch of grapes. robert died 1880 and sarah married
later to another landlord.
photos and address of the two pubs or anything would be great
thanks

From directories
1879 Robert & Sarah French not mentioned
1880 French Robert beer retailer 110 Hingeston st
1882-3 French Sarah Ann (Mrs.), beer retailer, 126 Hingeston st
Note. Between 1880 & 1882 the street was renumbered, and 110 is the same as 126.
1884 Sarah not listed . Alfred Findon is at 126 hingeston St
No 126 is the Rose & Crown.
I looked at all the directories I have access to 1849-1879 and could not find mention of Robert., though he could have been in one I do not have.

Kelly's directory of 1883 lists Mrs Sarah Ann French as a beer retailer at 126 Hingeston Street but this is not listed in public houses as either the Rose and Crown or the Bunch of Grapes. I will try other Kelly's if I can. Janice
