Bubble and squeak

Yes Pete now and again when the fancy takes me. Love it to crisp up on the outside. Might have some this Monday. Jean.

Love bubble and squeak, often cook to much on Sunday so i can fry it up on Monday

If you were this way you could with pleasure but don't know how I would cope with two Pete's???????. Jean.

One of life's little pleasures ... but, it has to be proper 'left-overs' and not the stuff sold by M&S and others. I love it best when it is slightly crozzled .....Mmmmmm mouth watering at the mere thought of it!

johno.yes great.strange how left overs always tasted better.i bought some from iceland but it was not like home made stuff

We love bubble and squeak , if there are leftovers after Sunday dinner i like mine with a few slices of bacon, and a fried egg sitting on top of the bubble and squeak (talk about healthy eating ) hahaha xx

making me feel hungry - I rarely make it now, as I am the only one who likes it and my hubby is excellent at feeding my specially saved veg to the dog!!!!May have to hide some for tomorrrow now though.
Talking of left - over food, my Great - aunts used to have a stew pot permanently on the stove in the scullery, I have no idea what used to go in it but the resulting soup/stew was great. I think todays pc brigade for food hygiene would turn in their shoes, but it never did me any harm!!!

I'm still teaching the Belgians the culinary art of making the perfect "bit burnt on the bottom" bubble & squeak! Love it.

Sue they used to have these pots on the old black leaded stoves and they would be simmering for days the longer they went the better the taste. Reckon We should put photo's on of the finished dish. Jean.

Call me perverse (which I am ) but adding Worcester sauce and a finely chopped chilli to the potato/ green mixture certainly adds a kick.

I can't wait to try this out, it sounds superb! Thank you!

I've always got some bubble and squeak on the go, very often have it for breakfast with corn beef mashed into it, healthy food.

I didn't realise how interesting the old fashioned bubble and squeak could be. I have chopped up smoked bacon and added it but never thought about an egg. Jean.

hi guys
there was silly old me thinking that no one in this day and age still cook and fry it crispy the old bubble and sqeak
a thing of the past yum yum you cannot beat it as it also says cottage pie home made

Alan I do it occasionaly (toad in the hole) but always brown the sausages before pouring the batter mixture over. I cook cottage pie a couple of times a month and vary between lamb and beef. Jean.

I prefer to cook proper food than eat cardboard, that's packed in cardboard, lol

My hubby Ray loves preparing the veggies, there are only two of us but you'd think he is feeding a family of ten so I often freeze what's left and use it for a quick bubble and squeak with steak or pork chop. Delicious I agree, especiallly if there are sprouts and leeks in there, a little bit crisp on the outside and plenty of brown sauce. Yum!
Is anyone else still cooking neck of lamb stew? Delicious too. It's one of the best things about winter nights as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy your tea tonight, I'm feeling hungry now! Anne

Still make toad in the hole for hubby and also neck of lamb stew. Both cottage and shepherds pie are staples in our house, I bulk make them and freeze them, easy to cook when I have to work late! x

hio anne
when cooking stew always asked the butcher for a big bone and cook with it in the pot with all your goodies
it makes the stew how about abit of irish codall there is a lot of people thinks its diswcusting but its lovely beleive me
