As Lyn says the address is 464 Moseley Road, Balsall Heath, Next to what was Tindal Street Old Boys Club. I've attached a photo.

Yes it had a piano, and I think the curtains were red, that would have been in the lounge that was on the left at end of the hallway entrance, where most of the functions were held, the members room was to the right and the snooker room was through the members room.

Hi All, I stumbled upon this thread whilst looking for some history on places my grandparents and older relatives used to go - Charlie Packer was my Grandad and I know he drank in the Brunswick and Tindall street - not sure how long ago?!

I was about to put a message on here to see if anyone recalled him, and then saw that Col had mentioned his name . Any memories that anyone may have would be warmly received.

Your grandfather was a very good friend of my father jim along with I assume your great uncle george.
Packer. They all drank in the Brunswick along with a few other places.

I did know your grandfather and his brother. They attended my wedding as well as both my elder brother and sisters weddings and to this day I can picture them with my Dad and a few others singing most of the night.
The last time I saw them was at my fathers funeral.
My brother thinks that the guy sat at the table with your grandad was named Eddie and it was him that sang when your grandad was doing his legion sketch.
My brother seems to think he might have some photos which I will share if he has

Hi Col, it’s lovely to hear the memories you have, I can imagine there was lots of singing, sketches and all round great times. I’ve been told by a few people if Charlie Packer and co roped you in on a drinking session, you'd have to be prepared to not go home for a few days due to the lock ins etc .
Your brother is correct about the other chap being Eddie, he was Grandads and Uncle George’s best mate and only passed away recently. Any other memories or pictures would always be a nice surprise. Thanks for getting back in touch. Katie

he must of been a good age when he passed.
I remember at mysisters wedding when I was about 11/12 they paid me to fetch there drinks I made a fortune it’s true the lock ins were legendary I was only young but ended up in some awful states
The bar closed when they decided it closed they were my dads best friends and drinking partners
They do not make them like that these days more the pity

I have some photos which I will upload. They used to go to a reunion of the Dorset regiment although none of them had been in the regiment.
I never managed to find out why but it was an excuse for a lads weekend away this is one of the photos which shows my dad your grandad and uncle and stevie Nichols.

As far as I know Uncle George Packer was in that regiment in WW2 .

George probably had long sleeves on mostly. I’ll upload some pics when I get chance to look through them. Remind me again of your Dad’s name so I can tell my Dad.

his name was jim summers (James) I seem to remember meeting a son of either george or Charlie but cannot remember a name

George’s son is called Graham and Charlie has two sons Dickie(Richard) who was the eldest and Tommy who is my Dad and the youngest of three. Charlie also had a daughter - Polly.
