Re: stephen brotherton

Hi Jean, you will need someone with more than a basic Ancestry sub, there are a couple of posibles, but I am not able to see spouse surname on basic. I'm sure someone will help you later.
Good luck, Sue

Re: stephen brotherton

I have checked Ancestry, the IGI and St Martins with no luck sorry. Maybe this is one of the couples talked about on Find My Past who did not marry simply because they couldn't afford it. The only other explanation maybe missing parish records. I found a birth at St Martins of Stephen Brotherton on 16 Feb 1807 parents Mary and Joseph Brotherton. Good luck with your search Jean.

Re: stephen brotherton

Looked on FindMyPast for this couple in 1841 Stephen Brotherton b. 1805 age 36 (no Birthplace) living Lizard, Shiffnal.
Mary b. 1806 Salop age 35 - Sarah b. 1839 age 2 - Emma b. 1841 9 months - John Harris b. 1774 age 67 b. Salop.
1851 Census Stephen age 47 is a Farm Lab. b. Birmingham - Mary 48 b. Stretton Salop - Sarah age 12 - Emma age 10
Jane age 9 living Shaw Lane, Shiffnal. With David and Evan Davis as lodgers - age 10 and 7. I couldn't find them 1861.
1871 census Stephen is 63 (now says b. Salop??) and Mary is age 70?? - Jane age 29 - William age 15 b. 1856 - Benjamin Brotherton b. 1871 (Jane's son??) living Carelton House, Albrighton, Salop.
I couldn't find a marriage for this couple or a death for Stephn.
You may have this info but hope it helps.

Re: stephen brotherton

Stephen Brotherton baptised 30th june 1805 Blymhill Staffs parents John and Jane

John Brotherton married Jane Shepherd 16th July 1804 Blymill

Both entries extracted from local records.

Blymhill is close to Weston under Lizard, half way between Telford and Penkridge.

Re: stephen brotherton
