Brook Street Bureau Employment Agency

Does anyone remember Brook Street Bureau Employment agency on Stephenson St. (Place?), later moved to New Street? I worked there as a receptionist from about 1956 to 1964. At that time I was known as Pam Middleton. I emigrated to the USA in 1964.

I worked with Barbara McCuaig (Jones), Bronwen Smedley-Crooke, Ethel Forrest, Doreen Bateman, and others.

Hi Alex, I remember Brook Street Bureau, I don't know any of the staff but I did do a few weeks temping around that time, but memories are very vague.

Hi Sylvia, I probably did the billing to the companies you worked for when you were a Temp. My colleague, Barbara and I did all the typing. You may not have been aware that BSB was owned by a lady named Margery Hurst, who had many brances throughout England. I don't know if any of them still exist, but Mrs. Hurst passed away many years ago.

Hi Alex I did some temping there when I was having my twins in 1966. It was at a branch of Lucas by the Ivy Bush Hagley road. Thanks for that link Maurice will go take a look. Jean.

Jean, I was no longer with BSB at the time you were a temp., but I enjoyed working in the front office for almost 8 years. I met a lot of interesing people during that time. Alex
