Hello all,

Ive recently registered on another forum and later found this one specifically for Birmingham ! Anyway thought i would post my same requests on here, to see if any of you kind people could help me out.

Details i have to hand
Grandfather Charles Leslie born 9 July 1909 (at 3 Bk 8 Whitehead Street Aston Manor)

Gt Grandfather Frederick Green (further knowledge: occupation Plumber Journeyman & died before 1936)
Gt Grandmother Ellen Green (formerly Broadhead)

i realise a marriage may of not ever taken place  as ive had lots of people trying to trace a marriage and found nothing.

Ive also knowledge of a sister to Charles called Grace (by family members).

My problem is dont know where the Gt Grandparents or Grace was born im only assuming they were from Birmingham as Charles was born there.

Im desperatly trying to trace a marriage between Ellen/Frederick but can find nothing. I need to link these 2 together so i can order a marriage certificate and see parents names, and ages dates etc as i no nothing.

Im really at a dead end, can anybody out there help me please :)

(Details ive been desperatly trying to get are marriage details for Frederick and Ellen, and a record of Grace with parents called Frederick & Ellen/Helen )

I can find lots of Frederick Greens in Aston
lots of Ellen Broadheads in the Country
lots of Grace Greens, but i cant find anything linking the names to each other so i have conclusive proof rather than just assuming)

sorry for the length of this post i just wanted to fill you in with all the details to save anyone from having to ask.

Many thanks

Val

Re: Broadhead - Aston

Hello Aston34 :) Your posts need a little more info to really get the
facts to begin to gel.
Post details of your Grandads birth certificate,
What year living at 3/8 Whitehead Street (Near Bartons Arms)

Broadhead name is very familiar in & around B,ham, so is Green,s as
you so rightly say,,there are loads of them,,
Just re-look at what Facts,,,, you have & re-post back here,
Then ppl will have a good look With you for Ellen Helen Eleanor,???Green
whose name could be Mary Helen but she likes Ellen & shes actually
10 years older than she admits to on any census or marriage if ever she did:rolleyes:
Nil Desperandum friend Aston34,,, All our Ancesters told "Porkie Pies"
thats why all us researchers love em (aargh! ) Cheers JohnY

Re: Broadhead - Aston

Aston34 as you gave no date, or ages...
(these are good facts to supply for look up requests).
I looked on the 1891 Cen' and came up with only two Green's with a Fred & Ellen as man and wife... Also going by the ages of both families I would say there were older children who may have left home and married.

Re: GREENS (Broadhead) of Aston Birmingham

I've found a Frederick and Ellen Green on the 1920, 1925 electoral role

7 Bristol Terrace, Colville Road, Balsall Heath

There is a birth for
Charles Leslie Green recorded in Sept qtr in 1909, in Aston
Grace M Green recorded in the June qtr 1911, in Aston

Sorry I haven't more time to search this morning

Re: Broadhead - Aston

Hi Pom

Oh believe me if id got dates and ages id be telling you all, thats why im screaming help from all directions, all i have is their names which i took from my grandads birth certificate. Nobody remembers them when im talking to family members as all the grandkids (my aunts and uncles) said they never knew their dads family. Unreal i know, but true.

From 1909 to 1936 Frederick is listed as a Plumber Journeyman (i know this from my grandads birth & marriage certificate) Frederick was registered as PJ on both however it did say he ws deceased on the 1936 marriage certifcate. Therefore im not so sure whether the details you found will be the right one.

Can i ask, where do you manage to view electoral rolls? Ive never looked at them before, ive just gone round in circles on Free BMD, Ancestory and familysearch.org getting no where.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look, its really kind of you and i do appreciate it :)

Re: GREENS (Broadhead) of Aston Birmingham

:D Im getting mixed up who ive replied and thanked now.

My reasons for posting similar/duplicate threads for Broadhead/Aston was just incase other people were searching one particular name and i didnt want the other overlooking. Dont mean to be sending all you guys in circles too by replying on them both.

Gee-em thats really interesting. Ive got Charles birth, and thats the Grace M that ive had my eye on, to order her certificate (currently in the process of ordering another so dont want to get confused by doing too many things at once)

Im really interested about the electoral roll. It would be great if i could find something linking them all together !

Can you point me in the right direction for these electoral rolls please.

As always a big thank you !

Aston34 I have now merged your two threads to help stop confusion and repeted posts.... Good luck with your search :)

Well done Pom :) Righty Oh Aston34 :)

Note that Gee-em,s excellent post, Elec Rolls 1920 & 1925
"Link" with my earlier 1912 Elec Roll (All Frederick Green,s)

The address 7 Bristol Terrace, Colville Rd, Balsall Heath is perfect match.
This re-aligns & certifies your records for Their times frame,

Now Pom has kindly linked up the postings for you the information &
any further questions/answers will unfold nicely on here for you,
Best regards & keep digging away,, JohnY:cool:

Thanks Pom John Gee-em.

Ive printed out all the posts and got my highlighter pen out, so i can start comparing/noting what youve all kindly given me, sorry if ive overlooked anything and havent thanked you personally!

Thanks your all fab !:)

Ive just got a surname for Grace Green today she married someone called OLNEY ! The better news is, as ive already mentioned i found a Frederick & Helen on the 1901 Census with a 5 mth old baby called Frederick.

update
The last few days after trailing through 100s of records of marriages on the complete BMD between Broadhead & Green i found a match for:
Frederick Green & Miriam Broadhead 1897 in Wakefield of all places, anyway i shall have to order this certificate to see if we have a Miriam Ellen.

could someone be kind enough to remove the Broadhead from the title of this thread now if possible please?

It turned out that Broadheads been transcribed incorrectly and ive been searching a ghost surname for i dont know how long !! It is infact Blackwell and i have now gotten much further with my searching.

Frederick Green married Julia Helen Blackwell (or Helen Julia she used both ways on different documents)
fredericks parents: were Joseph Green and he married Louisa Bird in 1861 in Middleton.

Its amazing how far you can get with the correct information lol :D

Thanks

Aston x
