Below is a photo of Hugh Wake's ironmongers . On the window it states 97A . However they are listed at 99 High Street Bournbrook Selly Oak from 1903 till 1913, and not there 1900 or 1915. In 1915 the ironmongers that took over (Milton deeming) are listed as at 97A & 99. The position of 99 is marked in red on the 1914 map. The corner building was 97, so expect that the firm also occupied a part of that corner building

Here is a view of Bristol Road in the 1920s. How different and quiet it was then, with houses along one side of the road, Assuming that the title of the photograph is correct, from the junction with Dawlish Road, the road has been widened since then, and gardens on one side and part of the pavement on the other side, has been incorporated into the road

Came across this phot on an interesting site called the Tourist Historian. "Dated 1910, iron tram tracks, a cobbled street and a beautiful Victorian era backdrop to the library". Library on left.

This was a Carnegie Library officially opened in 1906 and closed in 2017 and boarded up ever since and slowly deteriorating as shown in this 2020 phot. Grade 2 listed but abandoned by BCC.
