Bristol Rd, Selly Oak pub crawl

Rabster

proper brummie kid
Does anyone remember doing the Bristol Rd, Selly Oak pub crawl back in the mid/late 70’s/early 80’s?
Bearing in mind, Birmingham then had archaic pub opening hours – maybe open at 1830 but closed at 2230 - this took some doing with a drink in each pub. From memory I think it was (heading into city):

1. The Oak – Bristol Rd/Chapel Lane LHS
2. White Horse on Chapel Lane (by Den Caney Coaches) (Sold 1 real ale)
3. Plough and Harrow Hotel (Better ‘Ole Bar) Chapel Lane junction LHS
4. Dog and Partidge RHS
5. Prince of Wales LHS (all above before canal/railway bridge)
6. Station RHS by railway bridge (now Bristol Pear)
7. Bournebrook Hotel LHS
8. The Brook RHS
9. Gun Barrels – the old one like a house before they knocked it down and made it a plastic Gun Barrels now gone replaced by a swimming pool LHS

With the exception of 6 and 7, the rest of the buildings have now gone to the great pub graveyard in the sky. Sad, but progress I guess but what a fantastic night out. All of these pubs full of characters and for most of them they were their locals.

Happy days indeed, but if I have missed any out please feel free to add or advise. Apologies I have no photo's.
