Bridge Street West

going on further up hospital st towards new john st west we can just see c.brandeaurs through the gap in the buildings....

Those photos are great Lyn. Keep 'em coming! One set of my 2 x gt.grandparents lived at 207 Bridge Street West in 1861, so these photos are of great interest to me. My other 2 x gt.grandparents lived in Gt. Russell Street and Lennox Street.

Hi

Two pictures from the 1960's.

Gordon St / Burbury St & Wellesley Street / Burbury St. perhaps Bramwell you remember them.

Ray - I remember delivering papers to some of those houses in Gordon Street. The fence on the right is Burbury Park. On the lefty hand side there was a shop (out of picture) called Moseley's. Thanks for the memory. Mabz

thought you would like them mabz...great arnt they....

They are great Lyn - I would date them to about 1967ish as the second photograph taken from Wellesley Street looking towards the park and Lucas' shows a demolished Guthrie Street and Defford Road.

The building opposite the park keepers lodge at the entrance to Burbury park was the Lucas Garage where they maintained the company vehicles. Mabz

WOW...ray these are archive pics...i know of members who will be delighted to see these ...as far as i know there is only one in existance of brougham st on this forum...very hard to find....i lived in villa st...well you prob know that..

Ray
It looks as if you have the same trouble as i do on some of your old slides. I've taken the liberty of trying to remove some of the blue cast on three of them. Not an expert, but i think at least two of them look a little better
mike
Added later: Have moved the first two pictures to Brougham St thread

lol mike..ive just moved the the pics to the brougham st thread and asked it anyone could do something with the colour...could i be a pain and ask you to do it again....

I am really enjoying these Gerrard Street photos. Can anyone help please though as I cannot place where on Gerrard Street they were taken. If someone could name the pubs shown it would be a help I am sure. Thanks Ray for posting them.

Jules - I think the first photograph shows the No 8 bus about to cross Wheeler street.

The second photograph shows the pub on the corner of Gerrard Street/Wilton Street (I think that it is still there? - Astoness will know the name). Mabz

correct mabz...both pic i and 2 are of gerrard st..note the name cyril hall advertised....the pub i think is the union or the waterloo..will check that out...marvelous pics ray...

thank you so much...
