GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN R.I.P.
come with me my old china for a drink of tea with some toast in side you
have some dripping with some salt and pepper you'll feel like new
then we'll cross the road to put a bet on with joe wheeler
then go in the green man for a half of beer
it would be great to have a tickle off the osses and win a few bob
it would shut her up and her big gob
if we won enough we could have a do
and bring your old lady and have a sing song to
and if theres enough i could get me suit, from out of pawn
then have a knee's up and dance till the morn
but if we dont have a win it's nice to dream of what could have been
and get up in the morning and go to work on that rotten machine

IF YOU ARE FEELING LONELY, AND CANNOT SETTLE DOWN
have a look at our web site, it could make you frown
it's all about the old days when life was not humdrum
and if you had a bit of money you could have a lot of fun
you can take a virtual walk along and down newtown row
or visit aston cross you should see the difference now
the pictures that are there, are for every one to see
theres pictures of the shops and lucas factory
this site keeps you up to date with every thing they do
and if theres anything missing they will do their best for you
they write about the bullring and have photos oh so old
when you have a look at them it makes your blood run cold
but i will not tell you anymore its there for you to see
and if you think you have to pay, you dont its all for free

i remember summer lane and how it used to be
perhaps you have different memories not the same as me
i can remember going up snowhill to see the figures in the window of lewis's
some which moved about the elf's the animals and the fairies
not thinking that if i had some money to spend
that i could go into lewis's and join the queue at the end
to see the real santa claus and get a present all for me
but it daint matter as long as i could see what was in the window in front of me
do you think about things like i do? and wonder today what we could do
did you ever play with a whip and top
and made it spin till you could drop
we used a top off a pop bottle if we had'nt got a top
and pinched a bit of chalk from school to chalk upon the top
its a good job now we dont get that thick smog
you'd be robbed or stabbed in the street like a dog
we could go to the park with our mates or alone
and our parents never worried were till we got home
because there worn't any perverts in the street them days
because if there had been our dads would have changed their way's
do you recall the home made toffee apples sometimes two on a stick
and the toffee was soft not as hard as a brick
the ice cream that melted in your mouth was like a fairies kiss
it was between two wafers oh what we do miss
but now things are better so i am told
but i remember how it was as i get old
