bomb peck?

What is the origin of "bomb peck"? We used it all the time as kids, but I never really figured out where it came from.

If you go to search at the top of the page and put in bomb pecks you will find all the information you are looking for, and very interesting it is too. We of a certain age remember them, there was was one in Curzon Street near where my grandparents lived that I used to go over to get to where I lived in Howe Street.
