Bolton Road and Butler Street South, Small Heath

I was born in 9 Butler Street South and several family members lived in that little street, including my nan. I was only a few weeks old when we moved around the corner to 35 Bolton Road. My nan was still there in 1964 when she moved to Ward End. Does anyone know when the whole area was demolished and redeveloped? I don't think it could have been very long after she left.

My grandpaprents lived at 118 Bolton Road - they were rehoused to Poolway Sheldon in the early 1970's that would have been immediately prior to the redevelopment. Looking at old newspaper reports the houses started to be demolished around 1973 with compulsory purchase orders for the other end of Bolton Road dated 1974.

That's very helpful, thank you LittleMax. I know (or rather knew) The Poolway quite well in the 1970s - my wife's family lived near there back then.
