Hi gang, just wanted to mention i sent off for a birth certificate for my great great grandad and it has quite literally opened a flood-tide of ancestors!!!! Just from one certificate i was able to confirm over 50 (and counting) relatives; the furthest dating back to the late 1700's in Scotland!!!!!

Anyway, Quick poser for you all... any ideas about the Blue Lamp public house at 112 Francis Street Aston?

My great great uncle George was the publican there according to the 1891 census. Would be great to know if anyones relatives drank there or knew of him :)

the old blue lamp

hi there
i remember the old blue lamp many years ago in the late forty,s and right
Up to the late seventy;s
I lived down the road from there and i have been known to haveafew totsin there along with the kirby Family
it got its name from the old nick , [the police station acrossthe road from it ]
It was also at the bottom end of summer lane ,and it was known to crimms,
As the summer lane nick , i believe its now an new housing complex and long gone there was some right characters that use to frequent the place
there was an copper by the name of inspector brown many years ago
by the name of brown , and his side kick inspector blake ,use to operate from there in the fifty,s and sixty ,s then they where moved up to c division
which was the old lady wood nick , and also was connected to c ,division
was the little police station which still is out side summerfield park
dudley rd just up past the city hospital
best wishes andhave a nice day astonion ,;;;;;;;;;; ,
