Not sure this is correct thread does anyone recall a a blind match seller in Brum town centre always holding his stick out in front of him
unshaven sadly poorly dressed like a tramp.

No because it was the 60s i recall seeing him
Mum used to say he was blinded in the war

I remember him. He would stand by one of the arcades holding his white stick up and boxes or books of matches between his fingers. He would invite you to just take a box and drop the money in a box below. Someone once told me that he knew the sound of the right amount of money dropped and would say so if not.
