Black-out preparations across Birmingham

I suspect there were many who would fall foul of this wartime law.

It reminds me of two or three occasions where there was a kitchen fire caused by putting a can of paint on an electric hob and then putting a coin in the electric meter to restore the electric supply.
This was usually in holiday accommodation when the owner decided to decorate part of the premises. :oops:
