Birmingham Rugby Football Club

I was in a pub in Oxford a few weeks ago and came across this old tie. The pub walls (and ceilings) are covered with old ties of various clubs and this one was in a group of rugby football clubs. It's labelled Birmingham Rugby Football Club - but which one ? Would it be the predecessor to the Birmingham and Solihull Rugby Club ? Anyone recognise it ? Any idea of age ? I think the surname of its owner is "Leas" although can't be sure.

It’s been a very long time since I played but the only club I remember being called Birmingham was the one at Portway.

The Birmingham RFC at Portway did merge with Solihull in late 1980s and became Birmingham and Solihull Rugby (known as Bees).
My husband played for them at Portway when they were just Birmingham RFC

I think Birmingham rugby club started out as Northfield rugby club but changed their name. They used to play in Barron Rd, Northfield but sold the ground for a housing development. With the considerable about of money this raised, they built a brand new large clubhouse with 3/4 pitches at Forshaw Heath Lane, Portway towards Tanworth In Arden. But the advent of professionalism meant that players left for pastures new and eventually, Birmingham merged with Solihull rugby club to become Birmingham Solihull rfc.
