Birmingham Mercury Cycling Club

Does anyone have any memories of the Birmingham Mercury Cycling Club, we used to meet every Friday night at the hall behind St Marks Church in Bleak hill Road in Stockland Green, this was in the early 1970s I'm pretty sure the hall is still there (it had a sort of domed roof)
we went on our weekly club run every Sunday, meeting up at the central fire station it town

Wow! I've searched for ages and thought I was the only one who remembered anything about the club. I googled some of the members names I can remember but the only one I have found is Cliff Peters, he was a wheel and frame builder and a mechanic on the Milk Race (now the tour of Britain) for 30 odd years I joined around 70-71 so I don't remember that attempt (I wonder did they succeed)

Thank you so much for this, looks like your searching skills are much better than mine, You've found more this morning than I've found in years.
I was beginning to think I'd dreamt it all

A massed start by competitors in the eight-lap schoolboys cycle race at Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, on Saturday. The event was organised the Birmingham Mercury Cycling club.
Express and Star, April 1966.

I was a Birmingham Mercury member circa 1958/59, and rode Cliff Peter’s wheels ( he and his parents had a shop just off Lozelles Rd) on my Viking Severn Valley. Back then if I recall Sundays was a mix of club run and racing. We met if I recall on Friday vey near Kynocks. Such a long time ago.
