does anyone know what happened to the Bird in hand pub in Rounds Green, Oldbury? I have just traced an ancestor who was landlord there in 1891.
many thanks Karen

From Hitchmoughs Black country pubs your ancestor was isaac Hadley who held the pub at least 1888-92. He seems to have been the last Hadley to hold it . All landlords listed here before that date , starting 1832 were Hadleys: Thomas, Esther (or Hester), and Mary Ann. He doesn't know when pub finished, but there are licensees listed till 1921. The address varies between no 2 and no 3 rounds green. Several reference for allowing drunkenness are recorded. Yearly rent in 1872 was £19-10shillings.
