Bibby Samuel

I have two records of a Marriage of one of my ancestors , one from Family search and one from FreeBMD. Familysearch lists the Marriage as 29th Mar 1874 .inChesterton Stafford . Free BMD lists it Mar 1874 in Wolstanton .
I know some of the family lived in the Wolstanton area, but also there are links to the Stafford area, could it be two seperate Marriages , between two sets of people of the same names,( Samuel Bibby & Hannah Fisher)
Or could there be a mistake on one of the sites. quite a conundrum:rolleyes:
Can anyone throw any light please . Mollie

Hi Mollie

I have just checked the BMD Indexes on Ancestry and it shows that Samuel Bibby married Hannah Fisher in the March quarter of 1874 in Wolstanton. Looking at the information on Genuki it seems that Chesterton is a large village in the parish of Wolstanton. Hope this helps.

Burslem, Chell, Chesterton, Goldenhill, Kidsgrove, Milton, Newchapel, Silverdale, Tunstall and Wolstanton are listed as being within Wolstanton, Staffordshire, registration district according to FreeBMD, Mollie - so both are right!

Samuel Bibby married Hannah Fisher at Holy Trinity, Chesterton, which is in the area of Wolstanton and the records are kept at Newcastle under Lyme.

I want to say thanks to Alberta, Lloyd, and Jayell for their help with my query.
Thanks to you all , proving once again what a great site this is for rookie genealogists like myself.
