Looking forward to the meet.

Wife (Chris) and I were in town today and we went to the Bull as she'd never been there before and had to put up with me going on about the fabulous food. For once I passed over the faggots and had gammon, double egg, chips and peas. Chris had beef and mushroom pie. We were both beaten by the portions and I'd even had the cheek to ask for a piece! - now that's a Brummie expression I believe.

But you need a piece with runny eggs lol!
Good news for us Lyn, our booking manager has succeeded in putting the clinic I was covering at our sister hospital and sent out letters , so I have declined to cover it, so should be on time now lol!

Will be thinking about everyone at the meeting on the 11th. We will be in Lille, France by then. I'm hoping I can see the cemetery at St.Omer where my grandmother's brother was buried in 1918.
All the best to the Forum

Some time back I was given an original edition of Blacks Guide to Warwickshire 1866 by an ex member of this forum. I have had many hours of enjoyment from this book and I don’t see why someone else should not do the same whilst making some money for the forum at the same time.

To this end I’m donating the book for Lyn to raffle or auction or whatever she sees fit. The book is a hardback pocket size book is illustrated and also includes folded maps. It’s in reasonable condition though some pages at the front are loose but none are missing and the book is complete.

I’m sure that the book can be repaired as the damage is very slight. As far as I am aware these books are changing hands for between £40 & £50 at the moment.

Phil

Sadly I can't make it over in August but someday (hopefully soon) I will be able to make one of the "meet ups"

Knowing a bit about book conservation, Black's Guide to Warwickshire looks in good order. Loose pages are very easily repaired, our conservation department here would regard it as a very minor repair. Travel guides from that era are very collectable.
