evening david...the jewellers is noted for its good food at reasonable prices...i asked them to go easy on the chips but i still couldnt manage it all and i am a good eater..home made cottage pie looked good so i may have that on the 15th..

The food was great at the Jewellers, dad reckoned the amount of ham in his gammon ham sandwich would have done him a week and moms fishfinger baguette had 8 fishfingers in it - now I'm hungry lol!
Could always chuck the picnic table and chairs in the car.............................................

Noooo it's not December yet lol!!! Have probably told you, we never had Xmas stuff up at home until after 14th, the reason being it wasn't fair for mom not to see her cards like the rest of us on our birthdays, only as I got older did I realise it was moms excuse to not have all the decs round to get dusty lol!
Looking forward to the meet!

without wishing to sound like Ebenezer Scrooge, when my daughter fled the nest (1979) my interest in Christmas waned a little , and since I lost my Wife (1998) it as waned even further, I find it so commercial, and it seems to start earlier every year, and somehow the real reason for celebrating Christmas seems to have dissappeared, the ringing of the bells seems to be drowned out by the ringing of the cash tills, years ago we spent far less but enjoyed it far more. Perhaps I'm being nostalgic and living in the past. Eric

i dont think you are being a scrooge at all eric...its just a sign of the changing of time...christmas is so very different now to when i was a child..days when we would be overjoyed with one main present and a stocking with and apple and orange at the bottom and a few little stocking fillers.. but all the more reason to enjoy the meet up and at least keep up the tradition of folk having a good old get together...:encouragement:

Christmas is I feel what you make it not the shops or anyone else. I still love Christmas though refuse to put decorations up until the week before Christmas so it still remains special. Hence I now have two Puds made and waiting and two cakes being 'fed' brandy. I find it a very emotional time of year as 24th December would be my first wife's birthday. We tend to remember those who have gone before us with sadness yes but also recall the great times we shared as a family.

Now as I have gone off topic I need to thrash myself with Holly Twigs.

totally agree with your sentiments bernie...i will shut up now as ive no wish to be thrashed with the holly twigs...especially on open forum.....
