Thank you to all you wonderful brummies who have helped me to piece together another branch of my family tree.
Can anyone tell me where Frances Clara Brinkworth was in 1930? and what was her maiden name, marriage record, family background. Think it could have been Betts but not sure where I got that idea from.

Would Frances have been the same lady as in #2 that died in 1939 ?

EDIT...Answered that one...Frances died at 161 Park Road, a widow, 22 may 1939, Probate, Birmingham, 9 June to Arthur John Buckler, Production Clerk.

Albert Brinkworth married Frances Clara Betts, Aston, 4th quarter, 1875, Vol 6d Page 615

Hopefully someone will be able to tell you where she was in 1930, I do not have access to those records

Thanks Lindyloo this is great info. It is the same Frances. I was trying to establish if the Betts were the Grocers, as there doesnt appear to be any link with the Brinkworths until Albert is listed as Grocer aged 38 in 1891. Any ideas?
Maggie:angel:

I can link to all these Brinkworths - Thank you Lindyloo and LadyLinda :triumphant:

Don’t know if this is any help. Can find no Betts listed in directories as grocers in period 1872- 1892, though there was a fishmonger, greengrocer & a shopkeeper (which could be a small shop that sold some groceries). Did not go further than 1892

Albert Brinkworth is listed in directories and seems to have started running an offlicence, but then changed to a grocer & offlicence.. Beer retailer can mean offlicence or a beerhouse (licenced to sell beer only), but I think it likely it was an off licence. The address in Long Acre is not listed in the directory in 1888 or immediately afterwards.

1882-4 Brinkworth Albert, beer retailer, 382 Long acre
1888-92 Brinkworth Albert grocer & beer retailer 57 Alum Rock Rd. Saltley.
Again didn’t go past 1892

Hi Mike
Do you have the details for the above Betts, as I think they could be Frances' family (before she married Albert).

Thankyou so much for looking into all this for me.

There are quite a lot of Betts, but the following are in the categories I named. The date is date of publication, and information would be collected before this , so it would probably apply to year before. :

1862 Betts George confectioner 11 Bedford Road
1867 Betts George confectioner 22 Aston St.
1867-68 Betts Emma (Mrs) shopkeeper 27 Cregoe St
1867-68 Betts Peter fishmonger 31 Vauxhall Road
1872 Betts Rachel (Mrs.), shopkeeper, 477 Park road, Hockley
1873 Betts Joseph, shopkeeper. 28 Navigation street
1876 None listed in those categories
1878-80 Betts Edward, shopkeeper 13 Sherbourne Road
1878-82 Betts Rachel (Mrs.), shopkeeper 10 Barr St west
1880-82 Betts Phillip greengrocer 30 Russell St
1882-84 Betts Phillip 34 Steelhouse Lane
1888-90 Betts Benjamin, shopkeeper, 25 Cattell's grove
1888-92 Betts James, shopkeeper, 39 Bromsgrove street
1890 Betts Herbert John 64 Cox St West
1890-92 Betts Edwin, shopkeeper 2 Marshall St
1892 Betts Benjamin, dairy, 25 Cattell's grove
1892 Betts John, dairyman, 18 Wynn street
1892 Betts Walter, shopkeeper, 15 Ashford street

There are several other Betts who are cowkeepers or dairyman (Benjamin was a dairyman at 71 Edmund st in 1862)

As far as I can see Maggie, Frances' parents weren't grocers. I believe this is her and her family in 61/71
