Hello every-one i have posted this message else where ,but i think it was the wrong page. I would like to know do you have to pay to look up details of christenings as some of my family would like to know who our God Parents were (Thank-you )

Hi Lizy

Copies of Birmingham parish registers are held on microfilm at the Birmingham Reference libray. Have you got names, dates, church details etc. I may be able to have a look for you?

Steve

Hi Steve , i know all the years ,and my sister thinks three were at St ANNES DIGBETH and four more at St Catherines i think it comes in Bristol st would that help. Thank-you for replying.

Ok. All Catholic records are held at St.Chad's church in Birmingham city centre as per this message at the Birmingham Reference Library; We do not hold original Catholic registers. The majority of these are held at St Chad's. Contact the Rev. John Sharp, Archivist, Cathedral House, St Chad's Queensway, Birmingham B4 4EU. Tel: 0121 230 6252.

I Visited there once last year. They have a splendid "records" department which is well laid out. I would give them a call and ask about the baptisms that you require.

Regards

Steve

Hi All,

I am sorry to be a wet blanket but, if anyone does not know who their godparents are, then the godparents have not done a very good job. I never knew who my godparents were and I did not care either.

Old Boy

Such is life Old Boy. But as one gets older then one begins to take stock and wants to know about their roots and all that goes with that. It seems to me that Lizy and her sister are taking an interest, which can only be good. However, i do see your point.

Regards

Steve

Hi Old Boy ,i could agree partly with you , as if i was a God-parent then i think i would like to have some knowledge of the child but when we where little we moved so much that the people who are our god-parents probably moved around as much as us, and never took on board the responsebilty as they should have. It is for our-selves that we are putting dates of childhood things together and this is one date we would all like to have a copy of. .
