Bamboo Manufacturing In Aston 1900/10

Hey everyone, hope you're all well?? :)

Anyhoot, something else I found out about my Great Grandad (Frank Holtham) today was that he worked as a Bamboo Worker in Aston around 1911.. does this ring true to anybody?? I hope so as it'll make for interesting reading.. as it's that time of year too..I'd just like to add Frank went onto join the RAMC in WW1 as a medic, he sadly got shot by a German sniper in Febuary 1916 (my Grandad Joe Holtham was two at the time)

Any info would be great Thanks, and RIP Frank :)

Cheers Simon.

Well bloody hell Mike, I've found out that Frank (from another post on here) lived with his parents as a kid in Centre Row which leads onto Mark Lane (as above)... He must of worked there later on in his life??? where do you think I could find more info on Thomas Lukett??

Thanks again Mike that is brilliant

Cheers Simon =)

You don't seem to have mentioned mr Lukett before. what period are you talking about. there are only 2 Luketts (neither a thomas) on the electoral roll in birmingham between 1912 and 1945., both in 1912.

William Joseph had 3 sons and lost 2 in WW1 Frank and Arthur Joseph only William Albert my husbands family line came back from the war..

Hey Mike.. No Thomas Luckett was the Timber Merchant down Pershore St.. My G Grandad Frank lived with his parents down Centre Row, that backs onto Lucketts Yard.. I wondered if thats where Frank went onto work??? ..but I've now found out (my other link) that Frank lived near another Bamboo Furniture works near were he lived in 1911 so I think it was there he must of worked?
