Balsall Heath Property - Does Anyone Have Any Info Or Pics, Please?

Hi All,

I've recently been told about a particular property that once stood at the very end of Willows Road, Balsall Heath, opposite the corner of Cannon Hill Park. (Marked on accompanying, B+W map).

At the time that my acquaintance lived there - in the mid 80's - it was a place of multiple occupancy, but had formerly been an old folks home / care home, or some such place. I'm told that, unfortunately, it was demolished a number of years ago and a place named 'Amberley Court' stands on the site now.

I know it's a bit of a long shot, but would any page members remember this site, perhaps, or know anything of it's past history? I'm told it was a lovely, big building, but it's not named on any maps, sadly...

Any help would be - as always - much appreciated indeed! Thank you!!

It appears to be listed as 92 Edgbaston Road on the 1953 map.

The first person I can see on the ERs listed for it is a George Harrison in 1912. He was an ex Licensed Victualler (Swan Inn, Loxton St in 1881) by then listed as Living on his Own Means in 1911.

Thank you VERY much for such prompt responses!! That's wonderful!!

Of course, I've just realised that the address concerned is '92, Edgbaston Road', and not on 'Willow Road', as I'd possibly - erroneously - suggested!

Many thanks again MWS and pjmburns!!
